In this day and age, innovation and entrepreneurship is something anybody can explore. Even so, younger entrepreneurs find it hard to find people willing to invest in their businesses. I wanted to address this problem, but first we had to go to the source and ask teen entrepreneurs themselves. We reached out to dozens of teen entrepreneurs nationwide to see what they struggled with and found funding was a number one concern.
From here, we identified our mission: To open the doors for teen entrepreneurs by connecting them with people willing to invest—from friends and family to actual investors. Much like how LinkedIn provides an opportunity for people to connect in the business world, we wanted to create a platform for teenagers to connect with investors. And so, Jetfin was born.
Through my internship with Jetson, I found a way to target a problem in the society around me and pitch my solution to a panel of seasoned entrepreneurs. Jetfin was created to help teen entrepreneurs and through it encourage more success in an underestimated community—youth! By working with my Jetson mentors, I developed our plan, executed the design, and won second place in the pitch competition. Even so, Jetfin is still a work in progress and we can’t wait to see where it goes!
